Offering hand-tossed pizza, wings by the pound, and hot sub sandwiches, American Pie is especially known for their homemade ice cream.  Their homemade ice cream is a family recipe handed down through the generations.  American Pie’s menu offers a wide variety of unique ice cream flavors!  If you’re looking for a hand-tossed pizza made with only the freshest ingredients, try one of their signature pies, The Weed Eater, for veggie lovers, or The Mexican, for a little international flavor!

History

Established in 2005, American Pie has been voted Best Pizza and Ice Cream on the Outer Banks.   It is located at Mile Post 9.5, across from the Ramada Inn on the beach road.  American Pie has restrooms in a separate building outside of the restaurant, due to the fact that it was originally a Texaco gas station.  These were the original restrooms that were a part of the gas station.  Also, there are parts of the original gas station building that are now a part of the front of the restaurant.

Brian Miller, current manager and chef, makes all of their ice cream from scratch using the Miller family recipe.

Owner Biography

American Pie

Graduates of University of North Carolina, Brian and Beth Miller own both American Pie and Miller’s Seafood and Steakhouse.  Brian’s parents, Eddie and Lou Miller, originally established Miller’s Seafood and Steakhouse in 1978.  In 1996, the legacy was handed down to their son, Brian, and his wife, Beth.  Bringing their own up-to-date concepts and ideas to the family business, they decided to open American Pie in 2005.
