The Breakwater Restaurant is located in the heart of Hatteras Village at Oden's Dock, overlooking the beautiful Pamlico Sound.  This establishment has a deck for viewing the sound and the fishing fleet that is moored at the dock.  After dinner, you can enjoy a ride on the Pirate Cruise, or you may decide just to walk around the dock and visit the Marina Store.

Constructed by the Oden family in 1990, the restaurant is located on the second floor in a building that contains a fish market, gift shop, and marina store.  In the dining room, a patron can peruse Jaquelin Perry's local artwork and study historic pictures of Hatteras Village.  This restaurant won the 2006 Chowder Cook-Off hosted on the Island.

Owner Biography

Breakwater Restaurant

Don Oden and his mother, Jane, operate the restaurant.  Don, who is the kitchen manager, is a lifelong resident of Hatteras.  His mother, a former school teacher, moved to Hatteras when she was married.
